On the back of my racing kit I ask the question,
"Is there more to life than this?"
This isn't
me trying to be clever or even suggest that I am in some kind of
privileged position of empowerment. It's a question I pose because I'd
hate to think that people hadn't asked it before. It's also the primary
question that is asked by the Christian charity that I promote called
'The Alpha Course'.
It's not my
job to go forcing my belief on others but at the same time I am open
about how I look at my role within sport. My sport is a celebration of
just a few of the gifts I was given when I was made and so often when in
training and racing it is then that I am reminded that I am endeavouring
to improve what I have been entrusted with.
It is
also no surprise to me that I come across so many Christians and people
who are fully alive in living out God's plan in their lives in the
cycling, running and endurance sport world. There's something
about the act of making the most of your gifts and talents that seems to
honour God and yet I think there is still more to it than that: Cycling
and running enables me to disengage with the world at large and it's
everyday concerns and it is not by accident then that I feel most
connected to God when training or racing. It is often at these times
that God speaks to be and puts things in my heart and mind that he wants
me to do.
Many of you will
know exactly what I am talking about. Others will think I have gone mad
and others still wont even have read this far down the page without
clicking elsewhere and I can completely understand that.
If you are
curious to learn more or even just to be able to ask the question
without any prejudice or pressure then click on the link below and give
yourself the chance to find out if there is more to life than this.
Don't take my word for it! I firmly believe and have seen in my
own life that if you ask God the question above and are expecting an
answer you will get one if you wait.
